Tablet press is a key equipment used in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical and other industries to compress powder or granular raw materials into tablets. Regular maintenance not only extends the service life of equipment, but also ensures stable tablet quality, reduces downtime due to malfunctions, improves production efficiency, and complies with regulatory requirements such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
1. Cleaning work: After each production is completed, thoroughly clean the dust and residual materials inside and outside the tablet press to avoid cross contamination. Special tools are required to clean key components such as stamping dies, turntables, and guide rails to prevent material accumulation from affecting operational accuracy. Avoid using corrosive solvents during cleaning, and it is recommended to wipe with alcohol or neutral cleaning agents.
2. Lubrication management: Regularly inspect the lubrication system to ensure smooth oil flow, and add lubricating oil (such as guide rail oil, gear oil, etc.) according to the instructions. Lubricate the friction parts such as the thrust rod, turntable bearings, and transmission chain, but be careful to avoid contaminating the materials with lubricating oil. High speed tablet presses require the use of food grade or pharmaceutical grade lubricants.
3. Key component inspection:
Punching system: Check whether the punch and middle die are worn, cracked, or deformed, and replace damaged parts in a timely manner.
Pressure mechanism: Confirm that the pressure sensor and hydraulic system are working properly to avoid uneven weight caused by pressure deviation.
Transmission system: Check whether the belts, gears, and motors are loose or have abnormal noises, and adjust or replace them if necessary.
4. Electrical and control systems: Electrical components should be maintained, regularly inspected, and kept in good operating condition. The cooling fan should be regularly cleaned of dust with compressed air. In addition, electrical components should pay attention to the working environment conditions (temperature, humidity). In a good environment, the service life of the components will be extended.
5. Common problems and preventive measures
Problem 1: Uneven weight of tablets
Reason: Die wear, poor material flowability, or unstable pressure.
Solution: Replace the die, optimize the material formula, or calibrate the pressure system.
Problem 2: Equipment abnormal noise or vibration
Reason: Loose components, insufficient lubrication, or damaged bearings.
Solution: Tighten screws, add lubricating oil, or replace bearings.
Problem 3: Powder leakage or sticking
Reason: The surface of the die is rough or not thoroughly cleaned.
Solution: Polish the punch, strengthen cleaning, or adjust the environmental temperature and humidity.
Standardized maintenance is the foundation for efficient operation of tablet presses. By developing a reasonable maintenance plan and recording the details of each maintenance, the failure rate can be significantly reduced, and production efficiency and product quality can be improved.
